Although the normally festive holidays are upon us, daily review of the news on the air or in print reinforces that these are very tough times for many and challenging for almost all. I consider MTSI to be especially fortunate to have carved out its unique positions in several important Defense, Homeland Security and intelligence community mission areas. It would be foolish to say that we are “recession-proof,” but things are still looking remarkably well for our company and we are certainly in a good position to ride out the possible bad times ahead.
During this holiday period, I just wanted to take the time to remind everyone how fortunate we are, and challenge you to maintain that incredible dedication to customer service that this company has come to be known for. I am of the opinion that this trait has kept us retained on most all customer engagements. Had our standards not been so high, it may have been expeditious for the prime contractor or the government to examine other options when funding became tight. I thank you for maintaining this high standard.
During the recent All-Hands Meeting I made a presentation to the company concerning our tradition of giving. Even our website touts this tradition with “MTSI Gives Back.” During the holiday season I wanted to reinforce my thoughts on this. It seems to be a law of the universe that one is rewarded in far greater terms when one provides unselfish assistance to others. We started our donations and community involvement programs many years ago and I have always noticed that the employees that get involved in these activities seem to get as much or more out of the experience as those we are attempting to help. I know we as a corporation are blessed as a result, so we will continue to maintain, and when possible, increase this important extra role within the community. Keep this in mind when members of the staff that serve as the lead on some of these initiatives are asking for volunteers to staff an event or participate in helping others. You may be surprised at how rewarding your participation can be.
So, those are some of the things that I am reflecting upon during this holiday season. I hope you and your family have an enjoyable and relaxing holiday season. I hope to see many of you at our DC area holiday party or at one of the field office parties that I’ll be getting out to.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,
