Smart CEO Magazine singles out bold entrepreneurs in the Washington, DC, area who know the meaning of hard work, determination, and growth. Awards are based on specific criteria including growth in the number of employees and revenue.
The MTSI Dayton, OH, office has been recognized by has been named one of the “Best Places to Work in Dayton” for both 2012 and 2013. The Dayton Daily News identified 60 successful companies that offer the best opportunities, management, vision, pay and benefits and selection are determined by the comments by employees surveyed. In 2011 MTSI was recognized as one of 15 Best Places to Work in Dayton by the Dayton Business Journal. The DBJ received a record 139 nominations for 2011 award. The process included an anonymous employee online survey addressing the workplace and company culture.
The MTSI Huntsville office was recognized by the Huntsville Times as one of the Best Places to Work in a prestigious regional competition eight years in a row. The awards program was hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County and the Northern Alabama Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The MTSI Huntsville office was in competition with nearly 200 local firms that were finalists for only 15 Best Places to Work awards.
The MTSI Huntsville Office received the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama’s Torch Award for Ethics. The award is presented to companies that excel in their ethical relationships with customers, employees and vendors. A prestigious panel comprised of representatives of the academic and business community judged the entries from numerous businesses and organizations that accepted their nomination and provided an entry for the award.
MTSI was named a finalist in the Hiring Our Heroes award. This award recognizes companies that hire veterans and spouses of members of the military who are currently serving our country. The criteria include a review of company policies and recruiting practices that create employment opportunities.
The National Capital Business Ethics Awards are presented annually by the National Capital Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professions, in partnership with George Mason University. This award recognizes businesses that “exemplify a strong commitment to business excellence and to the highest standards of civic and social responsibility, integrity and ethical conduct.”
MTSI was nominated for this award, was named a semi-finalist, and was awarded the National Capital Business Ethics Award in the Large Company Category (over 250 employees) in October 2011. The award was presented by Judge Michelle Westermann-Behaylo, recognized MTSI’s attentiveness to ethics, integrity, trust, and social responsibility.
MTSI was recognized by the ACG National Capital Chapter as a winner at the 2010 Corporate Growth Awards Gala on April 8, 2010. MTSI competed against two other companies named as finalists in the Emerging Growth Company $50 -$100M category. The finalists were evaluated on quantitative growth factors over a three-year period including revenue growth, profitability, and market share gains, as well as culture, community involvement and demonstrated leadership qualities.
MTSI was named a finalist in the GovStar awards in the Star Workplace category. The GovStar award celebrates leaders in Government contracting for their technological innovation, workplace environment, growth, veteran support and resiliency. The finalists include 42 Washington area government contractors that were selected by a panel of judges that reviewed how companies have created a “Star Workplace” for their employees and how they have become and will continue to be a “Star Performer” in the industry.
Phil Soucy was named Greater Washington Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the highly competitive Government Contractor category. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year awards celebrated their 23rd anniversary this year. The program honors entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptionality in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Phil was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner, on 18 June 2009.
The Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s Fantastic 50 Award highlights 50 of Virginia’s fastest growing companies on a statewide basis. The award is based on revenue and number of employees in a wide variety of businesses throughout the state.
Philip Soucy, MTSI Co-President, was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award for service as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board. The SAB members are selected based upon their technical expertise and approved by the Secretary of Defense and the White House liaison. The group conducts independent studies and provides technical assessments approved by the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff. They assist, strengthen, and supplement the work of Air Force organizations that deal with science and technology.
MTSI was recognized for their work on the UAS Airspace Joint IPT program. The award stated; “In appreciation of your corporate commitment and support in forming, shaping and transitioning the UAS Airspace JIPT from concept to reality. Your corporate commit to UAS Airspace Integration is peerless by any standard.”
In additional several individual MTSI employees were honored for their significant program contributions.
Members of MTSI’s Applied Visualization Technologies (AVT) Group were recently recognized as finalists for the 2008 USAF CSTEA, as part of a team headed by Headquarters Air Force Space Command (AFSPC)/A3C. AFSPC/A3C led an effort known as the National Security Space, Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Pilot, aka “NSP”, with MTSI providing technology, concept of operations and scenario development, and training support. The NSP team was selected as the winner among all submissions across HQ AFSPC, with the opportunity to compete as a finalist for the USAF-wide award, held during the week of 10-17 September in Washington D.C. In addition to supporting the CSTEA competition itself, MTSI Supported AFSPC/A3C during the AirForce Association (AFA) Air & Space Technology Exposition, held concurrently.
New Hope Housing presented the Good Neighbor award to MTSI for the continuous support to help homeless people in Northern Virginia. In addition to financial support Phil Soucy has served as the President and on the Board of Directors of New Hope Housing. MTSI has been a major corporate sponsor and employees have participated in fund raising events.
This honor was awarded jointly to Tom McMahan and Philip Soucy (co-presidents of MTSI) at the NDIA Combat Survivability Division Aircraft annual symposium for outstanding leadership in the field of aircraft combat survivability for 2005. The award sited particularly impressive areas of leadership in developing the potential of air vehicle survivability modeling and simulation and analysis, and integration of multiple technical elements into survivability analysis, maturation of stealth technology, establishing low observable (LO) testing standards, developing the potential of air vehicle survivability Red Teams, and integration of multiple technical elements into survivability analysis. The award stated, “Their vision has contributed substantially to the quality of many of this country’s frontline LO weapons systems and their recent performance on the battlefield.”
MTSI employees are consistently recognized for their exceptional work and innovations by the government and our customers. Individual and team awards have been received for Contractor of the Quarter and Contractor of the Year from organizations including USAF, MDA, RCO, NAVAIR, OSD, and DHS. Program office awards include 412EWG team, FLRM Program, THAAD project office, KEI, 918 ARSG and HQ AFMC.
