MTSI Named a 2010 Finalist for Gov Star Award27th September 2010; Alexandria, VA![]() MTSI is named a finalist for the SmartCEO/Sheppard Mullin GovStar award. The GovStar award honors Greater Washington-area companies that strive for excellence in the complex and competitive business sector. The GovStar award celebrates leaders in Government contracting for their technological innovation, workplace environment, growth, veteran support and resiliency. The finalists include 42 Washington area government contractors that were selected by a panel of judges that reviewed how companies have created a "Star Workplace" for their employees and how they have become and will continue to be a "Star Performer" in the industry. The GovStar Award finalists will be honored and the winner will be announced at a dinner on October 26th at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City. |

MTSI on Another Winning Team - MiDaESS Group 2 (Full and Open) Contract Award12th September 2010; Alexandria, VA![]() On September 8, 2010, Missile Defense Agency (MDA) announced award of competitive full and open (unrestricted) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts to Paradigm Technologies, Inc. of Arlington, VA , Booz Allen & Hamilton of McClean, VA, and Computer Science Corporation of Falls Church, VA to provide advisory and assistance services under Missile Defense Agency Engineering and Support Services (MiDAESS). MTSI is part of the Paradigm team, and is well positioned to bid for significant work scope on task orders to assist the MDA directorates for Acquisition and Operations to provide Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) acquisition support services in: Acquisition Strategic Planning and Analysis, Business Operations, and Integration Synchronization. Work under these contracts will be performed thru 2015 in Alabama, Virginia, and other MDA locations. MTSI is pleased to have the opportunity to continue to support MDA and compete for task orders on another MiDAESS contract vehicle. 2010-2011 Sponsorship Interest10th September 2010; Dayton, OH![]() Scott Jokerst presented a check to Lt Col Michael Stepaniak, Dayton Section Chairman of the Institute of Navigation (ION), on September 9th at a monthly luncheon in Dayton, Ohio. MTSI is a proud supporter of ION, a non-profit professional society dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of positioning, navigation and timing (PNT). The Dayton Chapter is highly active, sponsoring the Annual Robotic Lawnmower and Mini-Urban Challenge competitions. The Annual Robotic Lawnmower competition is held in Dayton every year and challenges universities and colleges nationwide to design and operate a robotic unmanned lawnmower using the art and science of navigation to rapidly and accurately mow a field of grass. The Annual Mini-Urban Challenge challenges high school students to design and operate a robotic car built from a LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education kit that can accurately navigate through a LEGO® city. Regional competitions will lead to a national competition at the Smithsonian in May 2011. The Dayton ION Chapter encourages a collaborative environment between local colleges, universities, and research organizations including the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright State University, Ohio University, Ohio State University, and the Air Force Research Laboratory in the areas of PNT. The Dayton ION Chapter also supports a Navigation Apprenticeship/Scholarship every year, presenting an opportunity for outstanding college students to work with a "Navigation Mentor" to build their science and engineering knowledge while developing problem-solving skills in a real-life working environment. Third MiDAESS Win for MTSI1st September 2010; Huntsville, AL![]() Missile Defense Agency (MDA) announced award of competitive full and open (unrestricted) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts to Sparta, Inc. in Lake Forest, CA, ERC, Inc. in Huntsville, AL, Madison Research Corp. in Huntsville, AL, Computer Sciences Corp. in Huntsville, AL, and General Dynamics Information Technologies, Inc. in Fairfax, VA to provide advisory and assistance services to the Directorate for Engineering and the Directorate for Test under Missile Defense Agency Engineering and Support Services (MiDAESS). The 5-year ceiling on this contract is $1.6B. MTSI is one of the lead small businesses on the Sparta team and is well positioned to bid for significant work scope on task orders to assist the MDA Engineering and Test directorates (>1200 full-time positions). This is a core business area for MTSI, and beyond placing our incumbent staff we are actively recruiting and making contingent offers to highly qualified personnel from entry level to subject matter experts. Work will be performed in Huntsville, AL, Colorado Springs, CO, Vandenberg, CA, and Washington, DC through August 2015. Ranks No. 2084 on the 2010 Inc. 5000 list with Three-Year Sales Growth of 126% Inc. magazine today ranked Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. NO. 2,084 on its fourth annual Inc. 5000 list, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy-America's independent-minded entrepreneurs. "The leaders of the companies on this year's Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression," said Inc. president Bob LaPointe. "The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs." The 2010 Inc. 5000, unveiled today on Inc.com, serves as a unique illustration of the profound changes taking place in the U.S. economy. MTSI Proudly Supports Army Scholarship Foundation13th August 2010; Alexandria, VA![]() Phil Soucy, MTSI CEO and Kara Smith, MTSI Corporate Giving Committee, presented a check to Jeffrey Gault, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Army Scholarship Foundation. MTSI proudly supports the Army Scholarship Foundation, a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to providing college scholarships to deserving children of current and former members of the U.S. Army, and to spouses of currently serving soldiers. Founded in 2001 by a group of U.S. Army veterans, the Foundation is dedicated to assisting sons, daughters, and spouses of soldiers in achieving their educational dreams. It is staffed entirely by volunteers and keeps operating expenses extremely low so that 98% of donated funds go toward scholarships. The Army Scholarship Foundation awards one-year financial scholarships (not grants or loans) on an annual basis to qualified and deserving students. The amount of each award ranges from $500 to $2000 for undergraduate studies at accredited educational/technical institutions. Scholarship recipients may apply to renew their scholarships annually for a total of four years of higher education. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic record and participation in school and community activities. |

MTSI's Role in CHIRP set to Increase9th August 2010; Alexandria, VA![]() MTSI's role of performing range coordination and developing integrated targets of opportunity schedules for the Commercially-Hosted Infrared Payload (CHIRP) wide-field-of-view sensor experiment is gaining momentum with the recent announcement by SES World Skies of the sensor delivery for eventual integration with SES-2, its host communication satellite. Since 2009, MTSI has been actively engaged with Air Force, Army, and Naval range facilities to understand their ability to support CHIRP target observations, collect requirements for range data products, and maintain integrated range schedules to link targets with priority on-orbit experiment objectives. Our contributions were formally recognized in April 2010 as members of the Space and Missile Systems Center, Directorate of Developmental Planning, Team of the Quarter (January - March 2010). In 2011, MTSI's role is expected to increase to provide direct support of on-orbit experiments to test the potential of wide field-of-view, staring infrared sensors for a range of Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) missions. |

MTSI Awarded DARPA Global Hawk Autonomous Aerial Refueling Demonstration (GHAARD) Program Contract9th August 2010; Alexandria, VA![]() MTSI was recently awarded a contract to provide Scientific, Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) expertise to the Global Hawk Autonomous Aerial Refueling Demo (GHAARD) Program Office within DARPA's Tactical Technology Office (TTO). GHAARD is a program to demonstrate autonomous rejoin, formation station keeping/maneuvering, and aerial refueling between two Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) as a capstone demonstration for DARPA. MTSI is providing technical leadership, technology evaluations, collaboration/coordination with related government organizations, studies regarding the applicability of GHAARD technology to other platforms and warfare areas, and technical analyses of GHAARD performance as a key member of the Schafer Corporation team. MTSI is pleased to have the opportunity to assist DARPA with this important program. We appreciate the great work of MTSI Team members Jonathan Oliver, George Barth, and others who contributed to this success. |

MTSI Awarded Engineering Analysis Support Contract4th August 2010; Alexandria, VA![]() On 2 August 2010, the General Services Administration (GSA) announced the award of a Professional Engineering Services (PES) Purchase Order contract to MTSI in support of the Low Observable Supportability Office at the Aeronautical System Center (ASC), Wright Patterson AFB OH. MTSI will be teaming with First Principles, Inc of Woodbridge, VA. The MTSI team has won the opportunity to conduct Engineering Analysis in support of the B-2, F-22 and F-35 Programs. The LO Supportability Office is tasked to identify common issues and recommend advanced technologies to enhance maintainability and supportability of LO aircraft and reduce lifetime operation and support costs. Congratulations on this award goes to the MTSI proposal team members, Kevin Steffenson, Teri Kennedy, Janine Jones, Cathy Bossemeyer, Ann Byrd and Paul Jacobs. |
