Dane serves as MTSI’s general counsel, providing senior corporate management legal counsel regarding all areas of government procurement law with a focus on compliance, intellectual property, organizational conflicts of interest, bid protests, Freedom of Information Act, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Counsel often includes other aspects of MTSI operations such as employment law, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, subcontracting, teaming agreements, and management of outside counsel.
Prior to joining MTSI in 2008, Dane was an associate at the Washington, D.C. office of Crowell & Moring LLP, where he counseled and litigated on behalf of corporate clients in a wide range of government procurement law areas.
Prior to law, Dane had a full career in naval aviation as a fighter pilot and test pilot flying over 38 different aircraft types. He commanded a fighter squadron, a test squadron, the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and Test Center, and served as the Vice Commander of the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, and the executive assistant to Commander, Naval Air Systems Command. A graduate of the USAF Test Pilot School, he served as the chief Navy test pilot and operational test director for a highly classified test squadron directing and conducting developmental and operational flight test of prototype aircraft.
Dane earned a J.D. cum laude from the University of Maryland, an MA in business administration from Webster University, and a BS in naval architecture from the United States Naval Academy. He is DAWIA Certified Level III in program management and test and evaluation, and a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College.
Dane is active in the community serving on the Boards of Director of a local private school, business, and nonprofit organizations.
